The Samsung LN52A550 and LN52A650 are both tremendously popular LCD televisions so far in 2008, with the LN52A650 coming in at #1 on the best selling LCD list over at mega shopping site Amazon.com and the LN52A550 following right along behind at #3-4. At first glance over a specifications list it might not seem like the LN52A650 has all that much more goodies to make it the better deal, but the areas in which it does have more juice do make it a much more solid and future proof television, hence the better selling unit despite a slightly bulkier price tag

Samsung’s LN52A650 has 120hz Auto Motion Plus vs. the samsung ln52a550’s Hz, this can make a huge difference in games and fast action scenes, where images have visible lag and trail as they move quickly across the pixels.. Gamers, sports fans, and action lovers will appreciate the difference the A650 has

Response time, referring to the time it takes for a pixel to go from being active to inactive, is an incredibly important part of LCD panels, and the edge goes to the LN-52A650 with 4MS vs the LN-52A550s 5MS, doesn’t seem like much of a difference, but it is by 20% +

There are quite a few other minor differences when comparing the two side by side, but the above are the most mentionable difference. Again there is a reason for the LN52A650 being a much better seller this month versus the A550 little brother, but if you’re not a huge television watcher, gamer, or movie buff, you will save a few hundred $$$ by buying the 5 series 52incher vs. the more advanced technology in the 6 series 🙂

An HDTV compatible television set will not improve the quality of analog channels. In fact it makes it even worse because of scaling artifacts. To receive the best picture display, high definition televisions require a High Definition (HD) signal.
